Ingredients (for 4 servings)
- 4 aples
- water
- pinch of cinnamon
- pinch of salt
- clove (optional)
Directions
- Wash, quarter and core apples.
- Pour some hot water into saucepan.
- Put clove or some cinnamon in water.
- Place vegetable steamer into saucepan.
- Put apples on steamer peel down.
- Sprinkle few grains of salt onto apples. If you like cinnamon, sprinkle apples with some cinnamon.
- Use lid, bring water to boil and steam for approx. 15 minutes.
- You can make it into a fancy dessert if you pour carob sauce over it and sprinkle almonds or roasted shredded coconut on top.
Practical
- May be served hot or cold.
- It is and ideal snack for children.
- Steamed apples are much sweeter than raw apples. They are also easier to digest.
- Take off the peel for small children. It will come off easily once apples have been steamed.
Modifications
- Other types of fruit may be steamed. It is surprising how the sweet taste intensifies and how nice the smell is.
